L'île

Art/Biography, France 2019

From the silence of the primary forest to the din of a city with invasive urbanization, from the Canala plain to the gash-marked red hills of the Deep South, we follow the paths, the voice of Denis Pourawa, writer, Kanak and Caledonian poet. After a long absence, at the dawn of the second referendum on independence, Denis returns to his native land. Telling his story through his poetry, he returns to the traces of his past, taking us on his side roads to meet the places and the men and women who inspired him. Through them, the story of a man and a country, New Caledonia, is sketched out.
